Quick questions Henrik Hussfelt
Hi Henrik, who are you and how do you work with Joomla?
Hey there!
I have been working with Joomla! since the fork of Mambo and since then been engaged in several companies that work both against clients and the community at large. Right now my focus is to be an evangelist for Migur, which is an English company.
Migur has an extension coming out soon called Migur Newsletter - you can tell us about the extension?
Migur Newsletter aims to be a bit different then normal newsletters. We try to simplify the way you create the newsletters and work with lists. The thought behind the component is to have a low learning curve. The license is of course GPL, and version 2. Migur as a corporate entity offers support on their extensions, but everything is free to download and use.
There are relatively few "Swedish" extensions listed at JED - why do you think it is so?
I really don't know, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the Joomla! community in Sweden does not have that many developer. The people I meet at J!Day's and other Joomla community events are often smaller web-companies and "Average Joe". Why? I have no idea… Let's change it! :-)
What will we see from Migur future?
Mystery! Simplicity first.
What are your expectations for Joomla 1.8/2.0 released in January
Joomla 1.8 will be another maintenance release and LTS, I have no expectations on either function nor interface. It will be the second version since Framework and CMS went their separate ways.
I doubt strongly that Joomla! 2.0 would be released the coming year. If that is to happen the Leadership teams has to come together with the community at large, agree and put things down on paper.
The Joomla! CMS simply lacks innovation in the CMS section of Joomla! and has done so in recent years. I think much has to do that focus has been put on backwards compatibility and enhancements in the framework, putting UI aside.
I really hope that Joomla! with 2.0 really takes two steps forward. Take a look at re-using all the code out there in other frameworks instead of reinventing the wheel, and at the same time look at the community efforts to make Joomla! awesome on the UI side, for example Molajo (Minima), and use parts of it!
